The more I practice, the less interested I am in immediately changing what I see or feel. I’m loving the process of gathering enough information and learning more.
I’ve spent so many years consistently learning that I think I’ve developed this constant craving to be guided, to have other teachers see me, and to keep finding something new through the practice.

Such a good reminder to keep moving, stay true to your practice, and let other teachers see you too.

Especially right now. I love learning through change, and having a changing body is VERY real right now. 😂

Not everything needs an immediate correction. Observe, keep moving, change one small thing, and see what the body does with it.

I feel like I’ve been given enough space to move, explore, and organize things for myself—and then a little adjustment takes me just outside of my comfort zone and suddenly there’s something new to work with.

I love that.

I think that’s one of my favorite parts of this work. There’s always something to notice, explore, and understand a little differently.

Always learning from this body. 💛

Thank you baby girl for today I love you already so much! 💛
We can’t wait to be all together ✨
Grateful for Pilates, a true gift that meets you where you are every single day.

It’s never random…

“Back pain” can easily become a generalization for many different things happening as the body changes, especially during pregnancy.

For me, being already a mobile body, one of the challenges is organizing the relationship between my rib cage and pelvis as everything shifts. It affects breathing, alignment, space… all of it.

And my body literally craves that space.

What gives me the most relief is actually engagement. When my ribs and pelvis find a better relationship, my back engages into that two-way stretch, giving me the space and support my body is craving.

That’s why movement has been so valuable through every shift and stage of life… a very specific way to support my body while it’s doing so much to support me and my baby. 💛

There’s a meditative space that a movement practice can create.

The very first Pilates studio I worked at was at 939 8th Ave in New York. My mentor had been a student of Carola Trier, and somehow, very early in my career, I landed in this incredibly special place because Sarita Allen had seen me showing up devotedly, day after day, to Pilates and physical therapy for over a year and referred me.

We worked with dancers from SAB and New York City Ballet, musicians, and so many people from the dance community at the time—and I mean “stars” from different generations, including Ailey, Limón, Graham… It was simply part of the world that moved through that studio, but looking back, it feels historically significant to me. Especially because, as a dancer myself, many of these were people I had looked up to long before I ever found myself sharing a space with them.

But lately, what I keep remembering is the atmosphere.

There was an old music player, and we would play classical music very low in the background. No group class moving simultaneously. Just a few teachers, private appointments happening throughout the studio, all of the apparatus being used, and everyone having their own experience within the same space.

There was something incredibly meditative about it.

Not silent, not still, but focused. Everyone moving independently, absorbed in their own practice, while somehow sharing the same rhythm in the room.

I’ve been dreaming about that studio so vividly lately. The smallest details keep coming back to me, and those memories have filled me with so much gratitude for the life I’ve lived and for the doors that experience opened afterward.

Maybe part of why I still love practice so much is that feeling.

That space where everything else gets a little quieter and, for a moment, you’re simply there; moving, noticing, learning.

Me knowing this is probably my last time doing these for a while…

And my face knowing that was so not it — not because I couldn’t do it, but because it wasn’t coming from the place I wanted to initiate from.

Which is exactly why I believe there’s value in continuing to try things. Not to prove that they’re still available, but because trying gives you information.

Sometimes the information is yes, there’s more here.
Sometimes it’s not today.
And sometimes it’s okay, we’re done with this one for a while.

I think honoring the limits of the body is just as important as recognizing when there’s availability for more. Neither one has to be decided ahead of time.

Gaze in, zoom out, observe, try again… all of it.

I love it. I think what I love most about movement is that there’s always something else to learn.
